Personal
notes
Born in London, grew up around London and went
to medical school at St George’s Hospital Medical School. Completed
a BSc in Basic Medical Sciences with Anatomy in 1980 and qualified
in 1983. . Initially I started on a career in General
Surgery. I gained my fellowship of the Royal College of
Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1989. I switched to Orthopaedics in
1989 initially working in Bristol and then as a Wessex Rotational
Registrar at QAH Portsmouth and Lord Mayor Treloar Hospital. I
was a senior registrar at Southampton and took the FRCS (Orth) in
1995.
I was appointed a consultant at the North
Hampshire Hospital in Basingstoke in 1995. I started as a
general Orthopaedic Surgeon but after a few years started to develop
an interest in lower limb Arthroplasty. I now spend more of my
time undertaking Hip primary and revision Arthroplasty.
I am married with two children and dog. I live
in the countryside outside Basingstoke. I have quite a wide
range of interests from music to gardening and holidays abroad.
Over the last few years I have developed an
interest in M. I. S. hip surgery and Rapid Recovery. I have
enjoyed teaching ever since becoming a doctor and more so since
becoming a consultant. I have run the registrar teaching in
Basingstoke since 1995. For the last few years I’ve also
looked after the Houseman/Foundation doctors. I am an examiner for
the FRCS Orth Exam.
